Finding the Drombeg Stone Circle

Finding the Drombeg stone circle is a bit challenging to say the least. It can easily be overlooked while driving down and N71 because there is no sign! You would think a Breathtaking landmark like this would at least have sign on N71 which is a major southern route for Ireland road trips.
This is the first set of signs off N71 which say Glandor 7 km it doesn't mention the Stones. If you're coming from the east the signs not even visible so just remember to turn after Rosscarbery. You really have to just have some faith and keep driving because the signs don't appear till you're almost right next to it.
This Sign let us know we were on the right path and the next sign made it sure in our minds that we were close.
The Drombeg Stone Circle is a fairy haven in the Rain! Lauren said she felt like she was walking into a fairytale as we wound around this stony path.
The Drombeg Stone Circle dates back to the 800 BC. The stone circles were places of ritual and ceremony usually associated with human burial. This is one of Ireland's oldest examples of archeo-astronomy featuring a stone circle of 17 freestanding stones symmetrically arranged directly opposite a pair of tall stones which form the "entrance" to the circle.
The main axis of the Circle is northeast southwest. At the winter solstice the 21 December, the sunsets at a point on the horizon aligned with the axis.

Here is Lauren standing in the middle soaking up the ancient energy. Soft mists floated over cow pastures as we walked the ancient grounds, it was a truly magical moment.
