Best Southern Ireland Drive

Our day started from clonakilty with a short trip around inchydoney island on the coast of Ireland. The beaches were absolutely amazing lined with tall cliffs, leprechaun caves and rolling hills in a sea of green and blue.

From there we took N71 a beautiful coastal road heading west towards Ross Carbery, Goleen, Crookhaven, skibbereen, Schull, Mizen Head, the Healey Pass and Kinsale.
We drove right past the Drombeg Stone Circle and without noticing it we were already in Crookhaven. See our next post for how to get to the Droumbeeg Stone Circle sometimes spelled "drombeg". It turned out to be the highlight of our N71 south ireland road trip.

Crookhaven was a quaint little fishing village although we could not find the entrance to Healy Pass for the life of us.

So we moved on to Mizen Head and stopped at a few private beaches where sheep were taking shelter from the rain under large rock formations.

We tried to sneak up on the sheep around the rocks but they caught on and ran off.
Here the cliffs of Mezin Head and picture of Lauren by the flowers.
There is a wonderful little coastal café by the Mizen head towards center. We had a pot of hot tea and fish & chips.

We were told this is the best South Ireland Drive, save the ring of Kerry, and they were right! Even in the rain and light mists off the ocean, the Irish landscape is as beautiful as ever
